Professional Tree Trimming and Pruning from Local Arborists
Good pruning is the single best thing you can do for a mature tree. It removes dead and weak wood before it falls, reduces the load on heavy limbs, and opens the canopy so light and air can move through. Bad pruning does the opposite, which is why who makes the cuts matters.
Our arborists prune to industry standards and never top trees. We look at each tree's species, age, and structure, then make the smallest number of cuts needed to reach your goals, whether that is safety, clearance, or shape.

Types of Pruning We Provide
Crown cleaning
Removing dead, dying, diseased, and broken branches from the canopy.
Crown thinning
Selectively removing branches to reduce weight and wind resistance and let more light reach your lawn.
Crown raising
Lifting low limbs for clearance over roofs, driveways, sidewalks, and sight lines.
Crown reduction
Shortening overextended limbs back to healthy laterals to reduce the risk of failure.
Structural pruning
Training young trees early so they grow a strong framework and need less corrective work later.
Cabling and bracing
Supporting weak unions and heavy limbs with cables and braces to help preserve valuable trees.
Shrub and hedge pruning
Shaping and rejuvenating shrubs and hedges so they stay full and in proportion with your landscape.

Tree Trimming and Pruning FAQs
Straight answers from our arborists.
When is the best time to trim trees in Michigan?
Late fall through early spring, while trees are dormant, is ideal for most pruning. Dead and hazardous limbs can come out any time of year. Oaks are the exception: to reduce the risk of oak wilt, they should not be pruned from mid-April through mid-July.
How often should trees be pruned?
Most mature shade trees do well on a three to five year cycle. Young trees benefit from lighter structural pruning every two to three years. Fast growers and trees over structures may need attention more often.
Do you top trees?
No. Topping removes large portions of the crown, stresses the tree, and leads to weak regrowth and decay. We use reduction cuts instead, which lower risk while keeping the tree's natural form.
Will pruning hurt my tree?
Proper pruning helps a tree. We limit how much live growth is removed, make cuts just outside the branch collar so they close over well, and disinfect tools when working on diseased trees.
Can you prune trees near power lines?
We can prune near the service line that runs to your house. For primary distribution lines along the street, the utility is responsible for clearance. We will tell you which is which during the estimate.
Do you trim shrubs and hedges?
Yes. We prune ornamental shrubs, hedges, and small flowering trees, and can reduce overgrown plantings that are crowding walkways or windows.
